Universo ComodinoUniversità IUAV di Venezia

Universo Comodino addresses the theme of objects as a means of defining our personality and contributing to the creation of stereotypes. Our tendency to identify ourselves through the objects of our daily life opens the door to preconceived ideas about who we are, contributing to the layering of biases in our society. This theme is analyzed through the bedside table, an extremely intimate and private piece of furniture, and as an allegory of our masks. A lesser-known definition of a bedside table actually comes from the theatrical world, where it represents both the curtain substitute and the actor called to replace another in secondary roles. The book is composed of ten independent booklets, each depicting the daily life of a stereotyped person through the objects on their bedside table. An eleventh booklet contains a verbo-visual essay that explains the design rationale.
