An extraordinary city presented in an original book with a modern design focused on the reader’s comfort. The main text follows a classic chronological line, but is accompanied by text boxes introducing important players, explaining complex concepts and quoting well-chosen extracts from contemporary sources. The first volume ends on the threshold of the First World War, symbolically closing the history of Zlín, a rural small town. In the second part we witness the gradual but rapid and dynamic growth of a modern industrial city.
Both volumes are supplemented by several excursions that, for example, detail the regional circumstances of traditional political landmarks such as 1948, 1968 and 1989.
