Intro

Below you can find the rules of the competition; we recommend you to take full and careful view before filling out the application form.

Promoter

Fedrigoni S.p.A. with registered office in Verona (VR) at Via Enrico Fermi 13/F – Tax code and VAT number 01664630223 (hereinafter referred to as the “Promoter” or “Fedrigoni”) is the promoter of the Fedrigoni Top Award Research competition (hereinafter referred to as the “Competition”), under the terms and conditions set out in these regulations (the “Rules”).

For the purposes of these Rules, and unless otherwise provided, the terms set out below shall have the meaning set out below:

“Fedrigoni Group” means any company that is directly or indirectly controlled by Fedrigoni S.p.A.

Categories

Projects submitted must fall into one of the following categories:

a.

Publishing: books, volumes, magazines, art editions

b.

Creative Communication: brochures, product and service catalogues, financial statements, corporate graphics, mailings, greetings and invitations, calendars, notebooks, diaries, gifts and stationery

c.

Labels: labels for wine, spirits, gourmet food (applied to containers)

d.

Packaging: boxes, cartons, shoppers, counter displays, lined containers

e.

Graphics Applications: projects for large format digital printing, for advertising, corporate branding, retail, architecture, and design. For the customization of transportation vehicles, buildings, indoor and outdoor signage, exhibitions, and events

a.

Jury and evaluation criteria

The jury consists of an international panel of experts from the world of design and communication (the ‘Jury’). The Jury will assess the works received in each category on the basis of criteria that highlight the originality of the graphic design, functionality, accuracy of execution, and appropriate use of Fedrigoni Group self-adhesive materials and paper.
The Jury’s judgement is unquestionable.

The Jury will vote for the best 3 Projects (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Projects’) in each category above, based on the following evaluation criteria:

a.

Design: the originality, reproducibility and credibility of the design are assessed. Design as an overall approach is assessed according to the following criteria: aesthetics, user-friendly functionality, interaction between product and user

b.

Technical execution: the quality of the production and the manner in which the project is carried out are assessed

c.

Innovation: it is examined whether and how a problem or need has been solved; the Project may be innovative in the way it is implemented and/or in its application

d.

Sustainability: where possible, all phases of the Project life cycle are considered. Furthermore, attention is paid to the quality of communication with the consumer regarding the sustainability of the project, as well as information on the material used

a.

Participants

The Competition is open to all students and researchers -regardless of the printing technique used- who have developed projects that:

a.

Are made with all types and brands of special papers and self adhesive materials

b.

Will be realized in the academic year 2022/2023 – 2023/2024

c.

Fall into one of the categories highlighted in the “Categories” session of this page, it being understood that each project can only apply for one category

d.

Include a title and description, some technical production data and a PDF presentation of the project

e.

They must be accompanied by relevant photographic documentation (from one to four photos of maximum 3MB weight). These photographs will then be published in special sections of the website, visible to the public

f.

They were not developed in collaboration with a company belonging to the Fedrigoni Group for promotional purposes

g.

They were not made in violation of any applicable laws and regulations, with particular reference to intellectual property rights/copyrights

a.

Are made with all types and brands of special papers and self adhesive materials

b.

Will be realized in the academic year 2022/2023 – 2023/2024

c.

Fall into one of the categories highlighted in the “Categories” session of this page, it being understood that each project can only apply for one category

d.

Include a title and description, some technical production data and a PDF presentation of the project

e.

They must be accompanied by relevant photographic documentation (from one to four photos of maximum 3MB weight). These photographs will then be published in special sections of the website, visible to the public

f.

They were not developed in collaboration with a company belonging to the Fedrigoni Group for promotional purposes

g.

They were not made in violation of any applicable laws and regulations, with particular reference to intellectual property rights/copyrights

If applicable, the participant also undertakes to obtain the necessary authorisations/consent from all parties involved in the implementation of the project with respect to participation in the Competition

The Promoter reserves the right to verify the participant’s compliance with these rules at any time. Participants who do not meet the requirements and/or who do not comply with the conditions set out in these Rules and those who, in an unlawful, fraudulent or unauthorised manner, have or have attempted to alter the proper functioning of the Competition will be excluded from participation

In the event of fraudulent participation in the competition, the participant will lose the right to the prizes

Fedrigoni reserves the right to reject any entry at its sole discretion; in particular, projects that are morally or ethically reprehensible and/or offensive, intentionally or unintentionally, will be disqualified at the Promoter’s sole discretion

Fedrigoni also reserves the right to disqualify with immediate effect any participant whose behaviour is detrimental to the interests and image of the Fedrigoni Group and/or is incompatible with the provisions of the Code of Ethics adopted by the Fedrigoni Group itself

If applicable, the participant also undertakes to obtain the necessary authorisations/consent from all parties involved in the implementation of the project with respect to participation in the Competition

The Promoter reserves the right to verify the participant’s compliance with these rules at any time. Participants who do not meet the requirements and/or who do not comply with the conditions set out in these Rules and those who, in an unlawful, fraudulent or unauthorised manner, have or have attempted to alter the proper functioning of the Competition will be excluded from participation

In the event of fraudulent participation in the competition, the participant will lose the right to the prizes

Competition Deadlines

Participants must complete the online registration procedure via the dedicated form

The Jury will evaluate the projects through a secret ballot. In each category, projects receiving at least two votes will advance to the next stage

Each participant will receive an e-mail notification as to whether or not the submitted project has been approved

Participants whose Projects have been approved must complete their registration by sending to:

the following materials and information:

  • Master/company data of all persons involved in the Project (e.g. end customer, publisher, creative designer, printer)
  • The physical sample of the product (no slides, no renderings, no photographic prints) – products may be exhibited during the exhibition dedicated to the Competition
  • A minimum of four professional photos and videos of the project (no slides, no renderings) are required
  • Brief explanatory notes of the project (min. 200, max. 2000 characters).
  • An exception is made for the Graphics Applications category: a minimum of four professional photos (minimum size 1920 x 1080 pixels – no slides, no rendering) and a video are required

The shortlisted projects will be examined by the Jury at a face to face meeting in order to decide on a single winner

If your project is selected for the second phase of the competition, you will receive a confirmation email with a mandatory form in which to provide additional information and audio/video material

beginning
March 2025

The list of finalists with images of the selected projects will be published on the official Competition website

Spring 2025

The announcement and awarding of the winning project will take place during the opening of the corresponding exhibition in Paris. The day after the presentation, the winning project will be announced on the official competition website

Rewards and expenses

The Competition does not provide for the awarding of cash prizes and/or other benefits, rewarding only the creative merit of the projects.

Participation in the competition is free of charge.

The Fedrigoni Group will cover travel, food and accomodation expenses for 2 persons invited to collect the prizes as guests of Fedrigoni S.p.A.:

  • The student who realised the project
  • The lecturer of the course within which the project was developed or the supervisor of the thesis

Communications

All communications, of any kind and type, provided for in these rules and regulations will be validly made by publication on the competition website or by electronic service to the e-mail addresses indicated by the participants in the application form.

Participants are therefore required to consult the competition website, as well as their e-mail inbox (including the spam folder).

The Promoter accepts no liability in the event of failure to fill in the data in the competition entry form or of incorrect data filling in.

For all communications sent by e-mail, the Promoter also accepts no liability in the event that the e-mail could not be sent to or received by the participant because:

  • The mailbox is full
  • The e-mail communicated was incorrect or incomplete
  • There was no response from the host computer after the e-mail was sent
  • The mailbox is disabled, deactivated or otherwise inoperative
  • The indicated e-mail is banned

Fulfilments and guarantees

Participation in the Competition entails the Participant’s unconditional and total acceptance of these rules and regulations without limitation.

The Promoter accepts no liability for events beyond its control, including but not limited to: technical problems of any kind, such as malfunctions or difficulties with technical equipment, computers, cables, electronics, software and hardware, transmission and connection, telephone or data line, Internet connection, any access problems, impediments, malfunctions or difficulties with the aforementioned technical equipment, which may prevent or delay participation in the Competition.

By registering for the Competition, participants undertake, as of now, free of charge and without charges and/or costs of any kind or nature, to grant Fedrigoni the right to film and/or photograph the projects, including by authorised third parties, by television, film, photographic or any other means, with the Promoter’s full right to reproduce, disseminate, transmit, print, publish and project the filming and/or photographs of the projects as well as the accompanying information both in the context of the Competition and subsequently.

In particular, Fedrigoni reserves the right to refer to the projects to communicate its role as Promoter of the Competition to the public on all its social channels, in its corporate communication, as well as for archival purposes and/or on specific pages of Fedrigoni’s website.
In all cases referred to in this article, the Promoter undertakes to cite/indicate appropriately in its communications the name(s) of the creator(s) of the Project as communicated by the participant.

The participant undertakes to provide the Promoter with truthful and exhaustive statements and information in relation to the submitted projects and their designers. The participant also declares and guarantees to have obtained all the necessary authorisations and declarations from the various parties involved in the realisation of the project, undertaking to indemnify and hold harmless Fedrigoni from any claim and request for compensation and/or indemnity and/or compensation for direct or indirect damages that the Promoter may receive from third parties in relation to – merely by way of example but not limited to – the violation of intellectual property rights, recognition of copyrights and/or specific confidentiality obligations relating to the projects.

Modification or suspension of the competion

The Promoter reserves the right to modify or suspend the Competition, without this giving rise to any form of liability on the part of Fedrigoni, without prejudice to the Promoter’s commitment to promptly notify the interested parties in accordance with the law and with adequate information. Any such changes will not, in any event, result in an impairment of the rights acquired by the Participants.

Processing of personal data

Fedrigoni will process the participants’ personal data for the purposes strictly related to participation in this Competition, in compliance with the requirements of law and fairness, guaranteeing full protection of the participants’ rights. Participants may at any time exercise their rights under the European Data Protection Regulation no. 2016/679 / EU (GDPR) and Legislative Decree 196/2003 (access, rectification, erasure, opposition to the processing of personal data) by sending a written request to Fedrigoni at its registered office located at Via Enrico Fermi, 13 / f – 37135 Verona / Italy.

Applicable law and reference

This Competition is governed exclusively by Italian law; for all matters not expressly provided for in these Rules, please refer to the provisions of Presidential Decree. No. 633 of 26 October 2001. 430.
