XXVII Compasso d'OroD+ di Vladimiro Bendandi
The Compasso d’Oro is the oldest international design award in the world. It was created in 1954 from an idea by Gio’ Ponti and the award was designed by Albe Steiner, becoming a true icon in the field of design, but not only.
Gold, the colour of the award, became the representative element that turned the book into a monolith. The golden compass designed by Steiner surmounts the fully drawn lettering of the Roman numeral XXVII and the gold foil creates a ton-sur-ton play of light and reflections on the metallised paper produced by Fedrigoni. Fore-edge painting on the edge of the pages links the volume to the previous two ADI Design Index 2020 and ADI Design Index 2021.
Inside, the selection of products and personalities awarded the Compasso d’Oro Prize. The fifth Pantone Gold colour accompanies the reading of the entire volume, differentiating the awards from the mentions. Another fine account of the Italian design system by D+ studio.
