Competing Projects 2025

The Mask of TomorrowUniversity of Wolverhampton

The redesigned packaging for snorkelling equipment transitions from conventional plastic to sustainable, paper based solutions. Prioritising environmental impact, the packaging features recycled white paper for the sleeve and seaweed based paper for the base. These materials reduce plastic waste while symbolising a connection to the ocean and sustainability. The seaweed paper aligns with the aquatic nature of the product, reinforcing themes of conservation and environmental care.
The design incorporates a sleeve and box system that allows in store product interaction without compromising the structure. Features like a pull out box maintain the visibility of plastic packaging, offering a premium and eco conscious aesthetic. Inspired by marine themes and personal snorkelling experiences, the design incorporates textures and patterns reflective of the ocean environment. The result is a functional solution that balances environmental responsibility with practicality.
