Tourism, study, wars, natural disasters: many are the reasons that drive people to travel and consequently to see and become such foreigners who, in recent years, are rampant everywhere.
In the art world, then, this phenomenon is amplified even more, as artists as well as gallery owners and curators are used to travelling to train internationally.
Starting with the title of the last edition, therefore, the theme of migration has been chosen as the lens of investigation to analyse the history of the Art Biennale from 1999 to 2019, moving from one pavilion to another and crossing several years and editions. This editorial intends to retrace the route travelled. The three falk maps positioned on the cover instead offer themselves as exploratory maps to compare the years analysed horizontally.
