Competing Projects 2025

Atlante della memoria Università IUAV di Venezia

The research project focuses on the exploration of information design techniques when they aim to address social issues with an activist purpose. In particular, it investigates the phenomenon of military sex slaves, also known as “comfort women”—women and girls forced into systematic and coerced prostitution by the Japanese Empire during World War II. Through the use of data and testimonies collected by organizations advocating for the victims’ rights, the project seeks to reconstruct this history by designing a publication that not only documents the historical events but also restores dignity to the victims’ experiences and makes their violated rights visible.
