Damien Hirst To Live Forever (For a While)Teikna Design
I received the assignment from publisher Rizzoli International to design a 200+ pages publication on artist Damien Hirst “to Live Forever (for a While). The book was to serve both as catalogue for the upcoming large solo exhibit in Museo Jumex, in Mexico City as well as a hefty academic publication in its own right, with essays from prominent scholars and curators . The inspiration for the design came from the title itself, i.e. the impossibility to reconcile two opposites such as eternity vs temporary. This is what inspired mirroring the front and back cover (including the reversed out title) , also the end papers at the front of the book – on Fedrigoni Ispira Nero, with black on blacktext – while the end papers are totally white.
