We pass over them every day without paying attention, yet manhole covers are an essential part of our city. “Rilievi Urbani, Storie di Tombini” stems from the idea of giving new attention to these often neglected objects, transforming them into the protagonists of a visual and design story.

The project explores manhole covers in a different light, investigating their design, textures, typography, hidden details and functional solutions that make them fundamental to the urban context. Through images, research and graphic compositions, the book invites us to overcome the common perception that sees them only as practical tools, showing how even what seems ordinary can hide an unexpected harmony between aesthetics and functionality.
