St. Wolfgang - Patron of the Czernin family and the building of sacred landscape in ChudeniceNETOLIKO
The central theme of this publication is the veneration of St. Wolfgang in Chudenice. At first glance, it may seem to be a rather narrow and regional topic, and perhaps that is why the authors have tried to point out the broader context. In this case, the Chudenice case can be seen as a model of sorts: in terms of the spread of St Wolfgang’s veneration, the role of the nobility and subjects from the town and the surrounding area in this process, but also the role of the landscape as the proverbial ‘historical stage’. In this case, it is indeed the often-mentioned palimpsest, where new landscapes ‘overwrite’ the older ones, but never do so completely and without a trace. The book’s basic design is traditional, with a clear layout and the easy-to-read new baroque Crabath typeface. The fifth color dynamizes the textual information and makes it easier to read and navigate. The original author’s illustrations are also printed in blue.
