The degree of penetration of the bullets is about 350 pages, according to one of the combatants who, behind the trenches of the Philosophy and Letters front in Ciudad Universitaria during the Spanish Civil War, protected himself from enemy fire with incunabula, encyclopaedias and also bibles. In the windows of the Faculty, the works of Voltaire, Goethe and Cervantes, among other authors, served as improvised barricades and in the dead of combat were read by the soldiers and brigadiers defending the Madrid front from the siege of the rebel troops.
350 pages is also the name of the publication that accompanies Irene de Andrés’ research project and art installation.
