When Forms Come Alive: Sixty Years of Restless SculptureIn the shade of a tree
“When Forms Come Alive” is a catalogue published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition held at Hayward Gallery, London. The catalogue showcases the work of 21 sculptors whose work spans over the last sixty years. Curated by Ralph Rugoff, the selection of artworks gives the floors to ‘restless’ sculptures: “Undulating, drooping, erupting, cascading and promiscuously proliferating, these sculptures invited a tactile gaze, and triggered physical responses. In an era when our encounters are increasingly digitised and disembodied, these artworks call to mind the pleasures of gesture and movement, the poetics of gravity and the experience of sensation itself.”
