Almost half a century of art practice seems impossible to summarise in a blink of an eye. Edgard himself does not make pompous speeches about it. He speaks for example of ’making small sculptures’ using the relevant diminutives.
In the meantime, he has created an endless procession of figures, sometimes together with children and people with disabilities. He has taught many people to ’speak with their hands’, completely different from just another occupational therapy. His pupils gradually learn to take responsibility for their creations which then eventually acquire an expressiveness that transcends by far the decorative.
And even when he is drawing, he is in fact sculpting: modelling with pencil and Indian ink. His quick sketches are given a third dimension. Let the procession depart…
