The Portuguese in the Golf 1507–1650: An Interlinked HistoryFBA. — Ferrand, Bicker e Associados

Reflecting on great historical journeys, we envisioned a large-format book designed to be enjoyed slowly, printed on natural rough Arena paper. This format allows for better observation of rare and valuable objects such as manuscripts, engravings, and parchments, as well as large items like maps—icons in the travel universe vs representations of the unknown. The textured paper suggests the tactile nature of the artifacts, while the page format evokes the vastness of historical places and times. The Antwerp typeface used in the main text is inspired by 16th-century types.

In this trilingual edition, it was mandatory to paginate the images alongside Latin-based languages—Portuguese and English—marking the boundary, which is also the meeting point, with Arabic. It was therefore necessary to establish the best connection between the Arabic text and the images, also reflecting the plural directions of routes and pathways.
