Strange Pairs dotfog

STRANGE PAIRS is a line of notebooks designed for the European Design Award – Naples 2024. The image of the Neapolitan “souls of purgatory,” with bodies caught between flames and salvation, inspires a project where the sacred and the profane, Apollonian and Dionysian, death and life come to life in a large family of beings that are both sophisticated and popular.
It’s a system where historical figures, literary characters, artists, designers, and myths of a heartfelt secular devotion combine in endless ways with the objects and forms that embody the passions of the city. An infinite “bestiary,” part of EDA’s identity, is also featured on the event’s notebook-gadgets. The fantastical figures are composed within the intertwining covers, printed with stamps and digital techniques, while the assembly and binding are entirely handcrafted.
The Strange Pairs notebooks were also featured in a workshop held at Paperbar, the studio Dotfog’s workshop, during the EDA 2024 events.
