British Museum Annual Review 2022/23British Museum

In recent years, the Museum’s Annual Reviews have shifted focus, prioritizing concise information for time-sensitive users. This has led to a reduction in paginations, resulting in leaner publications. The 2023 Review planned pages and their content around a minimal number of sheets to control costs, reduce waste, and focus content. Key themes were tactility and brevity.

A gatefold cover adds volume to the slim publication, providing gravitas and protection, particularly during mailing. As more documents of this type move online, the tactile quality of printed items becomes more valuable. Various paper stocks were used to enhance the sensory experience and differentiate content, such as key figures, supporter lists and the main section – while also limiting some sections to single-color printing. The vibrant cover stock is modern, energetic, and attention-grabbing. A bold approach with a title foiled in two colours, ensures the Museum stands out among peers.
