Competing Projects 2025
Room 5Atelier Claire Rolland
Room 5 is a book that brings together the perspectives of photographer Emmanuelle Firman and Armand Pellier, the architect of Les Cabanettes in Arles. The studio created this book-object with Emmanuelle, drawing from her photographic series “5.” The architecture guided the design of the book. We focused on the rhythms, volumes, colors, and materials of this unique building, translating them into the work. We imagined it as an object to unfold, like doors to open. The words of Anne-Marie Llanta, architect, curator, and expert on Armand Pellier’s work, accompany this journey, recounting the encounters around this timeless place.
A yellow cloth cover with hot stamping / Binding: sewn square spine with visible stitching to highlight the book’s structure and provide an ideal flat opening / The book begins with transparency (thanks to Arena Smooth Ivory 80g), followed by alternating papers that create fold-out sections as the journey unfolds, ending with Materica Verdigris.
