From the rich storytelling tradition of the Black Forest, a selection of legends and fairy tales has been chosen, and their settings have been explored through photography. These stories tell of witches and the bewitched, of eerie places, house spirits, and goblins.

Where do these beings dwell? What makes the Black Forest such a mystical place? The combination of text and image is meant to invite readers on a journey of discovery—perhaps we might still find fantastical creatures there today.
