Not an ordinary Travel Guide: A Sustainable Travel CompanionAccademia di Belle Arti di Napoli

This project reimagines the traditional travel guide to combat overtourism in Naples by promoting off-the-beaten-path itineraries. Named Ameta, from the Latin amare (to love) and Italian meta (destination), it reflects the goal of fostering a deeper, more respectful connection with the places we visit.

Designed as both an interactive guide and a travel diary, Ameta encourages tourists to explore hidden corners of Naples through engaging missions. These activities lead to less-visited areas, unveiling the city’s authentic charm while easing pressure on overcrowded landmarks.

The guide incorporates physical elements creating a keepsake that extends beyond the journey. By blending functionality with emotional value, it becomes a treasured reminder of meaningful exploration.

The project to inspire sustainable and educational travel, inviting visitors to respect and preserve culture. It offers an alternative way to explore, slowing down to rediscover the beauty of every “meta.”
