Competing Projects 2025

Quia Pulvis Es Et In Pulverem ReverterisABABO - Accademia Belle Arti di Bologna

Quia pulvis es et in pulverem reverteris, translated as “You are dust, and to dust you shall return,” is a project that proposes a critical reconstruction of the cemetery as a monument, negating its anthropocentric connotations and its ostentatious “immortality.” Instead, it creates a path within an environment devoid of boundaries and rigid structures: a garden, an ecosystem where an organic dialogue takes place, in which humanity is both a spiritual and material part of the environment and the surrounding reality. Death is not a final term, nor the beginning of eternal life, but a point among many in a process dominated by transformation and a complex network of relationships that constantly evolve and progress. Life itself is eternal.
The project is developed through the creation of an exhibition space — in this case, a raised hill dedicated to a garden — and a communication apparatus, summarized in a stapled brochure.
