The topic chosen for the development of the thesis revolves around the issue of violence and abuse towards non-human animals within the fashion industry, presenting existing alternatives to replace leather in the production process of garments or accessories.
The project, called Sottopelle, involved the creation of a publishing artefact that aims to experiment with the book form to generate an alternative interaction between user and object. The design intention was to constitute the artefact as part of a public utility campaign, realised through the creation of a box containing not only samples of vegetable textiles, but also a series of autonomous graphic artefacts, such as posters or information leaflets, designed to stimulate the imagination and reflection on the ethical and environmental implications of the use of animal derivatives in the fashion industry.
