How to Be PerfectFolkwang Universität der Künste

The book ‘How to Be Perfect’ (poem by Ron Padgett) comprises 324-page print layers and eight 16-page binding layers.
The distribution of the text was determined in advance and the students were then each given three of the 99 ‘to-do’ rules for the (typo)graphic design.
The result is a coherent presentation of 99 very different rules for a successful life. These play with the typical American form of the popular guidebook and oscillate between lyrical clarity, harsh realism realism, brutal banality and heartbreaking absurdity.
The book is entirely handset and printed at the letterpress workshop at Folkwang University under guidance of Annegret Frauenlob and Prof. Ralf de Jong in the limited edition of 80, the bindings are handmade at the universities bindery under guidance of Heike Zobel.
