‘Buitengewoon’ by Carolle Servayge presents photos and stories of people with special characteristics that go against the stereotypical ideals of beauty of today. The result is pure photography, no photoshop, where people who would otherwise stay hidden, finally enter the spotlight. The sensitive black and white photography inside of the books comes to life on a magnificent paper called ‘X-PER’. It’s an uncoated paper that ‘behaves’ itself like a coated paper, guaranteeing intens colors without feeling too glossy. A Natural linen by Winter & Company was chosen for the cover. The unique speckles in the material are a link to the unique external characteristics of the people in the book. The title on the cover is impressed with a black and a silver hotfoil.
The book is a hardcover, sewn with black thread and has black endpapers and a black headband.
