Down Below is a book about fragments, research, and collaboration. For months, Davide studied the space where the Winter Garden once stood. What he found was an empty crossword puzzle. He collected it, observed it, set it up, and photographed it. This crossword puzzle reflects the heretical inventory work he is carrying out: an inventory where invention, creativity, serious play, and documented imagination emerge, characterizing his approach. Fecarotti invites his followers to participate in a fragmentary reconstruction of the Winter Garden and its layers. Faire l’état des lieux – to take stock, to become aware of a place.
