Chromatic PrismTAPE OVER
CHROMATIC PRISM/Paris was created on the glass facade of the Ateliers Gaîté. The building houses a mini version of an entire neighbourhood: shops, restaurants, flats, co-working space, gym, bars – all areas of life are combined inside.
A highlight for passers-by was to be created. Goal: increase the attractiveness of a visit and generate a positive response. Result: a large-scale installation that perfectly complements the light-flooded facade. Interior’s versatility provided inspiration: colourful life inside the building was to be reflected on the facade.
Concept’s basis is the ever-individual view through a kaleidoscope shown in the application. Only requirement was that symmetrical motifs consisting exclusively of equilateral/isosceles triangles, each in three different sizes, should be used for an organic overall picture with individual patterns. 15 artists spent two weeks full-time wet applying ̴ 15,000 triangles of the ColourShift ASLAN SE 70 on 800 square metres.
