Nancy Jazz Pulsations was born in 1973.
This book tells the story of the festival’s 50 years through 50 unexpected thematic entries (Comics / Happenings / BPM / Short Circuit / Trees / The Goat, the Indians, and the Lobster…) illustrated with photos, posters, archival documents, and previously unseen testimonies. It features photos of legendary artists such as Miles Davis, Ray Charles, Nina Simone as well as Paolo Conte, Compay Segundo and also Ben Harper, Massive Attack, Daft Punk…
It was created as a duo by graphic designer Nicolas Pleutret and writer Matthieu Rémy.
The entire book is printed in four-color process + 1 copper color (PMS 873), in reference to jazz’s iconic instruments. The cover was first printed in solid white (visual on the back cover), then finished by Japell Hanser & Sag (Paris) for the matte hot stamping (Kurz 429N) and white silkscreen printing. The whole book was sewn and bound by Clement SAS (Seichamps).
