‘The Soul of Stone’ is an exhibition by Fabrizio Plessi at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. Here the artist explores the relationship between classic and contemporary art by placing video installations next to the classic statues of the museum’s permanent collection – the subjects of these installation are digital reproduction of the sculptures.
The catalogue conveys the same concept through the use of semitransparent inserts with digital reproductions placed in between pages of essays, pictures and artists’ sketches. A very classic typography and layout is employed next to a contemporary way of conceiving paper as a communication media. The ivory paper identifies the section dedicated to Russian translations.
