Památníček. Nejkrásnější české knihy roku 2019, ročník 55Památník národního písemnictví / Museum of Czech Literature
The Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and Museum of Czech Literature annually organise the Most Beautiful Czech Books of the Year (MBCBY) competition. The jurors assessed the graphic, printing and illustrative work of the books that were published and printed in the Czech Republic in the last calendar year.
The catalogue of the Most Beautiful Czech Books of the Year 2019 designed by Štěpán Malovec and Martin Odehnal is inspired by the 55th anniversary of the competition. The title „Památníček“ means memory book, where anyone can write greetings or wishes or draw a picture. The chapter „Na památku“/ „in memory“ includes messages from people, whose surnames are somehow connected with book making process – Kniha = Book; List = Sheet; Papír = Paper; Kapitola = Chapter; Řádek = Line; Mezera = Space; Štoček = Printing Block etc.
Published to mark the Most Beautiful Czech Books of the Year 2019 prize-giving ceremony on 15 July 2020.
